Was the most heartbreaking, earth shattering day of my life. My father a man who taught me everything, and formed me into the man I am today died at 11am. I was on my way over to hand him his gift, the icecream attachment for his Kitchen aid. Just the day before he was with me picking out a fathers day gift for his partner. We were talking about how he said I’d be the first one out of my brother and I to get married and to have kids. How he misses riding motorcycles and skiing.
Where my love of videogames and comic books come from is from my father. My mom may have bought the nes but it was my father who sat down and played Super Mario Bros. with me almost everyday after school. When I was little he would turn on the animated Batman series he would tell me that Batman was a man who had something tragic happen to him, something so horrible that it would cripple anyone. He ran not away from his fear but towards it. He stood his ground and fought for himself, his family, and for those he cared about. I remember he smiled and told me that Batman always came and saved the day. My father had PCD ( Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia)for 54 years he fought this disease tooth and nail. He never complained about it never said he wanted it all to end. Out of all the comic books I’ll read, my father is the greatest superhero in my eyes.
